The "5 Pillars Guide To Developing The Young Black Gifted Mind" is a workbook designed to help youth, ages 9 and up, to develop an overall sense of wellness while obtaining educational goals. This workbook is divided into five parts - Spiritual, Mental, Physical, Emotional, and Financial. Refining these 5 Pillars allow for the scholar to learn about themselves and to be able to best utilize education in their personal goals. The Spiritual Pillar uses Social/Emotional Learning competencies and English/Language Arts skills to help the scholar become more balanced within themselves and to understand conflict management. The Mental & Physical Pillars use the competitive nature of sports to teach math statistics. The Emotional pillar helps scholars increase accountability, empathy, and organizational skills. Finally, the Financial Pillar includes an interactive, scenario based project called "You grown, Huh?" that puts scholars in adult-like situations where they have to budget their living expenses with a career choice based off of their current class grade.
